Suffolk Phoenix Brass are having an exciting year celebrating their 25th Anniversary performing at several concerts. The year started with the band supporting the Russell Watson Tour “In Magnificent Buildings” at St Mary’s Church Bury St Edmunds. The latest concert being “Brass on the Grass” in Christchurch Park where over 200 people enjoyed a very varied programme of traditional as well as modern brass band music.
The band continues to attract many talented Suffolk musicians to its ranks, the latest being new Principal Cornet, Lawrence Killian, who has a wealth of experience with numerous bands and musical groups, as well as being a composer, arranger and conductor. We are very delighted to have Lawrence join the band, and we have thoroughly enjoyed playing his latest arrangements for the band.
The Band is now looking forward to rehearsing in a new venue from October, as they move to the well-appointed premises of Burlington Baptist Church in London Road, Ipswich.
The Musical Director, Richard Atkins is very keen to welcome new players to the band, and in particular has a vacancy for a new Principal Trombone (contact: secretary.suffolkphoenixbrass@gmail.com)
Suffolk Phoenix Brass can next be seen at Helmingham Hall Plant Fair on 14 September 2025.
